How It Works
A portable measurement system that comes to your rink, runs during your own tryouts and practices, and gives your coaches numbers they can act on — without your association buying equipment or your staff learning software.
Drive Hockey Technology
Drive Hockey is the sensor platform used by scouts and development programs at the junior and professional level. As the authorized Alberta distributor, Ice Cold Analytics brings that same system to associations, academies and leagues across the province.
Accessible means accessible. Your association buys no hardware, signs no software licence and hires no technical staff. We bring the system, set it up in about 15 minutes, and operate it ourselves while your coaches run the ice exactly as they planned to.
No guesswork. No subjectivity. Just data — captured during your real tryouts, practices and games.
By the Numbers
What Gets Measured
Every athlete in your program is measured the same way, on the same ice, under the same conditions. That consistency is what makes the results defensible when a coach, a parent or a board asks how a decision was reached.
Conditioning Analytics
Beyond skating skills, Drive Hockey captures conditioning data that shows how an athlete's performance changes as fatigue sets in — a dimension of player development that's nearly impossible to evaluate with the naked eye.
Understanding how an athlete's mechanics degrade under fatigue is one of the most valuable insights a coach or trainer can have. The platform makes it measurable.
The Smart Arena
Nothing gets installed and nothing gets left behind. The Smart Arena travels to your rink, runs on its own network, and packs up when the session ends. Once we calibrate your rink, it stays calibrated for every future visit.
Small location-sensing anchors attach to the outside of the rink glass — never on the ice surface and never in the way of your session. They map the full playing surface so every stride is placed in context.
Lightweight sensors strap to shoulder pads before players step on the ice. No blades, no wires, nothing an athlete will notice, and each one is pre-assigned to a player profile before the session starts.
The system creates its own Wi-Fi network, so it works in older community rinks with no usable internet. It runs all day on rechargeable lithium batteries.
When the session ends we sync the data and AI processes every event. Finished reports are available within minutes to you, your coaching staff and the families you choose to share them with.
The System
We arrive early and set up the Smart Arena around your rink glass. About 15 minutes, and nothing for your staff to do.
Sensors strap to shoulder pads and are pre-assigned to each player profile before the group hits the ice.
Your coaches run the session as planned. We operate the system and stay out of the way while the data is captured.
Every athlete is benchmarked against their age group and delivered as a single-page development report.
What Comes Back
One page per athlete after every session. Measured strengths, honest development areas and specific training focus — delivered under your program's name. Parents who receive this stop asking whether the evaluation was fair and start asking what their kid should work on.
Measured by Drive Hockey sensors. Scores normalized by percentile rank within age group.
